Bridal Wear

Who’s the fairest of them all...

Probably one of the most expensive and precious items of clothing you will ever buy, your wedding dress, needs to be something you treasure for a long time.

Bridal wearYou don’t need to break the bank to look amazing on your big day, but you do need to bear in mind what suits your shape and if you feel comfortable. The first thing to decide is how much you would like to spend on the dress - the average bride spends 5.5 per cent of her overall wedding budget on this. You don’t necessarily have to opt for white as the colour, because ivory, mink and even green, red and pink can all look good on the right person. Try on as many styles of dresses as you can, even if you think a certain one will not look good on you. You might be pleasantly surprised! Take along your chief bridesmaid or a friend who will give you their honest opinion and guidance. Don’t forget, they will see what it looks like from all angles.

Various styles include, princess line, ball gown, straight style, bias cut, and period style, retro, designer and contemporary.

Your bridesmaids

Bridal wearThe bridesmaid’s dresses need to work well with your dress; something simple and elegant is a favourite choice. Don’t make them wear a dress they don’t feel comfortable in. Many brides let the bridesmaids choose something they could wear again and again. You could give them a colour scheme and let them select their dresses themselves. They must, of course, show you before the wedding to gain your approval. This can help them bond as a team, which is what they are. They are your team of bridesmaids to help you in the build up to the wedding and on the actual day.

Mother of the bride

The mother of the bride also will want to wear an outfit that looks good. Take her shopping and make a day or weekend of it. Some high street stores cater for special events, with tailored suits and dresses. She may want to get an outfit specially made for the wedding, in which case discuss what suits her and what will work within the overall wedding scheme.
