Antiques & Art Galleries
Superb collectables and vintage objects
There is a wide range of antique dealers and art galleries in South Oxfordshire which source and sell vintage clothing, genuine Art Deco jewellery, collectable prints and one off sculptures.
Antique Dealers
Antique dealers vary their stock every week so there is something different every time you visit. Antique dealers in South Oxfordshire pride themselves on sourcing high quality pieces that have an interesting history. The Ferret in Henley sells a range of items from musical instruments to textiles and barometers. The Swan at Tetsworth has forty rooms dedicated to fine antiques, glass, jewellery, clocks and mirrors. Set in the middle of the countryside, The Swan has its own restaurant, serving a menu of local ingredients and holding events and lectures regularly. In Wallingford, situated next to the market place, The Lamb Arcade specialises in antiques. It consists of around 40 individual shops that sell everything from silverware to paintings.
Art Galleries
If you're not sure what you're looking for, you can walk around the quiet galleries in South Oxfordshire and take in the work on show. Staff are always happy to help explain more about the paintings, prints or sculptures and give you more information about the artist. Gallery Hadley in Thame is a contemporary fine art gallery selling originals, limited edition prints and Kosta Boda glassware. The building itself is worth visiting. It was once an old church and although art hangs on the walls and the sculptures and glass pieces adorn the space, it still has its original structure. A slightly smaller gallery- that represents a select number of British and European artists- is The Red Gallery in Thame. They are exhibition curators and art consultants. In Henley a favourite is the Bohun Gallery, established since 1973, it sells and exhibits watercolours, drawings, original prints and ceramics and is known for its welcoming and personal customer service.
