James Sadler became known as "the King of the Balloon" after he successfully flew about six miles from Christchurch meadow in the City of Oxford to the village of Woodeaton in 1784.

This feat set off a ballooning craze in England and it is no wonder then that hot air ballooning still remains as popular today. There is nothing quite like gliding slowly over rolling hills while gazing down at roads and fields where cattle, cars and people look like some Toytown model.
