A taste of Henley's past and present

A famous Henley brewing name Lovibonds has returned to the town and is being operated from part of the premises used by its illustrious predecessor of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The new Lovibonds Brewery is operating from a storage area behind the very shop in Market Place from which its predecessor once distributed beer, wines and spirits. The original Lovibonds shop, now used by Threshers, closed in 1969 when the company was sold to Wine Ways Supermarkets.

Lovibonds today brews and sells its beers in the old storage room behind Threshers - and the old railway track used to transport beer barrels still runs through the premises.

Open to the public on Saturdays, Lovibonds Brewery can be reached through the Greys Road car park. Visitors can sample and buy the three types of beer produced - Henley Amber, Henley Gold and Henley Dark. The shop also features items of historical interest including antique Lovibonds bottles, old order books and photographs that show the history of the Lovibonds name in Henley.

Visit the Lovibonds Brewery website for further information about the history of the name and the company's presence in Henley.
