Swan Lake at HambledenStar Russian ballerina Irina Kolesnikova is the top attraction at the inaugural Henley Ballet and Modern Dance Festival on the Hambleden Estate in Henley. The festival takes place over three days, from August 31 to Sunday September 2 inclusive. Prima ballerina Irina will perform in an open-air production of Swan Lake, with the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre and City of Oxford Orchestra. The festival also offers performances by other top dance troupes such as the Rambert Dance Company, Aversive Dance, Tempo de Tango, Zoo Nation and Latin Extravaganza. More than 20,000 people are expected to watch the performances and taje part in a number workshops that form part of the event. Organisers describe it as "the first open air dance festival in Britain" and the stage as "enormous, bigger even than the stage at Glastonbury Festival."
