Bad summer forces festival to postponeThe inaugural Henley Ballet and Modern Dance Festival planned for August 31-2 September, has been postponed until next year because of bad weather. The postponement, which has been reccommended by the fetsival insurers, followed the announcement that more rain is due this week and that long- term weather forecasts are not promising. John Carpenter, the festival founder said, 'It is with great regret that we are postponing the first ever Henley Ballet and Modern Dance Festival. There has been tremendous support for the event locally and from many dance companies and exhibitors who were committed to the UK's first outdoor dance festival. The organisers stressed that this is a postponement, not a cancellation and the festival will go ahead as planned next summer, at Stonor Park near Henley. John continued, 'We are in the process of working with the dance companies to find alternative dates, so that we can launch the event as part of the essential summer festival calendar.'
