Thame Show and Street Fair

A three-day street fair and the country's largest one-day agricultural show descend on Thame this month, to provide day and night entertainment.

The first official 'Thame Show' took place in 1888; with origins dating back even further to a ploughing match in 1855. Now the show attracts over 20,000 people each year and is particularly popular with families and was granted 'county' status last year.

This year, the 119-year -old show is on Thursday 20 September at the town's showground. Events take place in and around five show rings and include working and domestic animal competitions and a show jumping grand prix.

Other highlights include 'The Musical Ride of The Cavalry', a display of new and vintage machinery, a country pursuits arena and the Kennel Club 'premier status' dog section, craft market, food hall and a donkey sanctuary.

Tickets can be brought in advance or on the day, priced at £10/£12 for adults and £6/8 for children (aged 5-15) and senior citizens. A family ticket admitting two adults and three children is £30/£35.

For further entertainment, Thame's annual street fair takes place in the High Street from Thursday 20 to 22 September.
