Messing about in boatsA chance to watch a full day of competitive rowing, free of charge, at Henley Town and Visitors' Regatta, Remenham Meadows. The regatta takes place this Saturday, 29th July. Situated at Remenham Meadows, it features 220 crews and scullers, who will compete on part of the Royal Regatta course. The full day of eights, coxless fours, coxed fours, quadruple sculls, coxless pairs and double and single scull racing events, begins at 8.30am and continues throughout the day at four-minute intervals. The finals of each event take place from 4.30pm until the last race of the day, the senior eights final at 7.15pm. The regatta is free to watch from Remenham Meadows, where visitors may wish to take advantage of the beautiful settings by enjoying a picnic as they watch competitors battle it out for the 30 trophies on offer. Visitors will even have the chance to take a ride on a 50ft umpire launch as it follows the race! Rides cost from £1. Alternatively, visitors can watch from the regatta enclosure for which there is no dress code, at a charge of £2 for adults and £1 for children under the age of 16. A bar and catering service will be provided in the enclosure. Parking will be available at £1 for the day in Lion Meadow, Leander Way - the first left turn as you cross the bridge from the town.
