Henley Arts FestivalWith Status Quo, a free Carnival and a French Acrobat…the Henley Arts Festival is looking fantastic! In just two weeks time, the Henley Regatta site will be transformed into the Henley Arts Festival (5th - 9th July), a glittering and glamorous enclosure with a Floating Stage, champagne bars, Albert Roux's Riverside Restaurant, a sculpture lawn and much more to cater and entertain the expected 20,000 visitors. This year, visitors to the Festival have the opportunity to see fantastic performances by Status Quo on their 40th anniversary tour, Bryn Terfel, The Rock Orchestra and comedians Sandi Toksvig and Bonnie Langford. It doesn't stop there however, overall there will be over 300 different artists performing throughout the week, covering an array of tastes from Celtic Rock to Opera, visual artists to a French acrobat, with Comedy, Fireworks, Street Theatre, Jazz, Funk and Rock n Roll and the chance to dine in-between. On Sunday the 9th July, the Festival will be bringing some of its magic into Henley Town Centre with its first free Carnival, made possible by the Henley Festival Trust, the Festival's charitable arm. The carnival will be a culmination of year-long art projects by schools across Oxfordshire and Berkshire who are currently making the most of the time left to prepare for what proves to be a colourful and vibrant carnival. Organisers are working hard to make the Festival a real occasion both for visitors and artists, by midday on the 5th the stages will be in place, plants, flowers, trees and sculpture have all arrived, field kitchens and restaurants (with the Riverside being the largest field kitchen/restaurant in Europe) have been given their final polish and the sound checks begin. All that will await is the arrival of the visitors!
