Glow-worms, bats and a picnic!Explore the ancient woodland, chalk grasslands and nighttime wildlife of Warburg Nature Reserve with an evening stroll and picnic. Warburg Nature Reserve in Henley is holding a 'picnic in the woods' evening, this Wednesday (5th July) at 7pm. Meeting at the reserve's car park, the evening begins with an hour-long stroll around the chalk grassland and ancient woodland that is home to over 2000 species of plant, animals and fungus. This will be followed by a picnic, for which people are invited to bring plates of finger food and refreshments - either for themselves or to share. People may wish to bring blankets to sit on. After the picnic, a search for glow-worms, moths and bats will begin, using a vapour lamp to attract the moths and a bat detector to hear bats screeching. The evening will finish at 10pm, but people are welcome to stay on longer. Booking is essential so please contact Tim Woods on 01491 572789. Entry is £2; under 12's are free. The ground can be uneven, so stout shoes are recommended. No dogs allowed. More information about the reserve can be found on the following website: www.bbowt.org.uk. |
