Stonor Park turns crafty

Roll up your sleeves and try a new craft, shop until you drop or relax and watch the live entertainment.

The picturesque grounds of Stonor Park will become home to the Chilterns Craft Show during four days of August Bank Holiday weekend, (August 25-28), featuring traditional crafts, lively demonstrations, hands- on workshops and live entertainment.

Housed in ten large marquees, over 250 British artists, designers and craftsmen will be showcasing their work ranging from ceramics, furniture, textiles and fine art to glassware, greeting cards, jewellery and sculpture.

As well as the chance to view and buy some unique and original pieces, the craft show is running a series of hands on workshops, allowing people to try techniques in ceramics, papermaking, pencil making and card making. Interactive demonstrations of more traditional craft techniques such as besom broom making, straw thatching and swill basket-making will be held daily.

For the younger visitors, the craft show offers a venture playground, workshops in scarecrow making and hand puppetry. Wind in the Willows characters will also featuring in a cottage style show garden.

One of the highlights is the free antiques valuation service. Visitors can have up to two family heirlooms inspected by a panel of experts who will provide background information and that all important valuation!

The craft show is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm each day. Tickets are £3.90 for adults in advance or £5.30 on the door, Senior Citizens £2.90 in advance or £4.30 on the door; children up to 16 are free if accompanied by an adult.
