Summer festival fun for all the familySpend the August bank holiday weekend camping at a family friendly festival, packed full of live entertainment day and night. One of the most relaxed festivals of its kind returns to Towersey near Thame on August bank holiday weekend (24th - 28th August), offering families and friends the chance to enjoy five nights and four days of live music, comedy and dance in beautiful countryside. Spread over three sites, the festival contains an international trade market, craft and music fair, food and drinks tents and a showground, with a packed entertainment programme that will please all the family. Open from 10am-6pm each day, visitors and campers can experience live performances by Ghanaian singers and dancers, England's funniest musical historic comic Wynndebagge, Kakatsitsi drummers, Irish, Appalachian and American dance groups and daily processions. Other entertainment includes stilt-walking, street theatres, a traditional funfair, a nightclub style dance house and an open-air family show. Warming up the festival programme on Thursday night are Chas and Dave, with a 'cockney knees up' performance in a marquee decked out like a London pub! A Children's Festival begins on the Friday afternoon, giving all age groups the opportunity to take part in workshops, activities and performances, before concluding at the grand family concert on Monday afternoon. For those who wish to spend the whole weekend at the festival, there are three different campsites to choose from depending on your noise and entertainment levels. Prices, tickets and directions can be found on the festival website below. Alternatively, for those who wish to pop into the festival showground for a day, tickets are priced at £5 for adults, £1 for children aged 5-17 and people over 60. A car park is provided free of charge. |
