Events and Festivals

The hills are alive in South Oxfordshire

Although events such as the Henley Royal Regatta, Thame Show and Henley's Festival of Music and the Arts attract massive publicity, they are far from being the only attractions South Oxfordshire has to offer visitors.

Opera and concert performances in the open air can be enjoyed in the gardens of Garsington Manor while Wallingford's Bunk fest is now firmly established as a leading event for the folk and roots music scene.

If you are looking for art, why not pop into one of the many arts and crafts fairs in the area offering different styles from traditional to contemporary. There are opportunities to buy unique pieces or even try your hand in one of the workshops held at the fairs.

In the summer months, the wide range of music festivals will live in your memory forever. Whether you are a fan of the classics, folk or rock, there is a sound to suit all tastes. There is nothing quite like having a picnic with the family in picturesque parks and listening to the various bands and performers entertain.

Farm animal lovers will be able to take in their delight at South Oxfordshire's two main agricultural shows in Henley and Thame. And there are also several river and railway events held during the summer months as well as special events tailored for children.

During 2007 Oxfordshire celebrated a thousand years of the county with several festivals and special events to mark the occasion.

From opera buffs, art lovers, couples and families, South Oxfordshire is a beautiful and diverse district, with a plethora of events and festivals taking place.
