Especially for Children
Let the children take part in South Oxfordshire
When it comes to music, dance, sports and drama, South Oxfordshire has
a range of festivals specifically tailored for children, which allows
them to participate in a wide variety of activities, and gives them a
chance to be a star.
Over
1500 children take part in the week long Henley Youth Festival. There
are hotly contested inter-schools sports competitions, competitions for
individuals and workshops for drama, dance, music, photography, poetry,
rugby and rowing to name a few.
The first ever Children's Food Festival will take place in South Oxfordshire
in the summer. Celebrity chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Sophie Grigson,
Prue Leith and Nora Sands, the 'dinner lady' from Jamie's School Dinners,
will give children the chance to learn and develop their passion for food.
Or
there are the special visits that Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends
the Great Western engines make to Didcot's Railway centre. The Fat Controller
will be supervising Rev. W. Awdry's classic children's favourite tank
engine.
There are rides behind 'Thomas' and lots of other entertainment for children
including Punch & Judy shows, magic shows, circus workshops, bouncy
castles, story reading, clowns, Happy Monkey barrel organ and games.
