Industry CSR report

French Jones has written researched, designed and produced Performance, the annual corporate social responsibility report of the UK cement industry since 2004- and the latest edition has just been produced.

The report was first published by the British Cement Association in response to a stakeholder survey, showing little was known of the positive benefits the industry -and concrete- plays in our everyday lives.

The report also served as preliminary baseline in satisfying a longer term need to measure and report performance against indicators set out in the Environment Agency's sector plan for the industry, published in 2005.

The report carries a commentary on the industry's activities in economic and social terms, then publishes annually updated under nine objectives.

In the latest edition more emphasis has been placed on the uses of concrete rather than the manufacture of cement-perhaps hardly surprising when you realise concrete is the second most consumed substance in the world after water.
